Leadership Retreat 2014

On September 5 - 8, leaders from grassroots biking and walking advocacy organizations gathered at a conference center outside Pittsburgh for the 2014 Alliance Leadership Retreat.

  1. Advocates were greeted with custom Camelbak blowfish bags and Primal Wear jackets. Big thanks to these two companies for supporting state and local active transportation advocacy!
  2. The Alliance holds the Leadership Retreat every two years, thanks in large part to support from companies and organizations who support leadership development at grassroots biking and walking advocacy organizations.
  3. The weekend kicked off with an Advocacy Advance grantee convening. Leaders from organziations that have received Advocacy Advance Rapid Response grants came together to discuss best practices for winning biking and walking funding campaigns. The convening wrapped up with a game of Jeopardy, featuring Darren Flusche as "Alex Trebikewalk." Winners won signed portraits of the Advocacy Advance team!
  4. Advocates poured in from all over as their trains, planes, buses, and automobiles arrived in the beautiful foothills of the Appalacians.
