The Location
The 2014 Leadership Retreat will take place at Antiochian Village Conference Center in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands region, just 60 miles outside Pittsburgh. Set among some of the highest mountains in Pennsylvania, the Center features hiking trails, a fitness center, and beautiful views. Registration includes shared accommodations, all meals from dinner on Friday through breakfast on Monday, shuttle service from the Pittsburgh Airport to Antiochian Village, and shuttle service back to Pittsburgh for those who will be traveling on to the Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place Conference.
The Program
The Program Committee is hard at work seeking out new approaches to build capacity in our movement while also exploring and celebrating the ever-growing diversity in our community. In the coming months, you'll hear about a program that has something to offer everyone, whether you're advocating for better bicycling infrastructure in a big city or safer pedestrian crossings in a small town.
Getting There
Antiochian Village Conference Center is located 60 miles east of Pittsburgh, PA and is on the opposite side of the city from Pittsburgh International Airport. The Alliance will run free shuttles from the airport to the Conference Center for advocates arriving on Friday, September 8. Greyhound and Amtrak offer service to the nearby town of Latrobe, and Spirit Airlines also offers flights to Latrobe Airport, which is about a 15-minute drive from the Conference Center.Member Discounts:

Susie Stephens, a co-founder of the Alliance for Biking & Walking and its first Managing Director, was known throughout the bicycle and pedestrian advocacy world for her joyful nature and passionate enthusiasm for the environment. After Susie was killed by a bus while preparing to lead a pedestrian safety training in 2002, her family established a fund to provide scholarships to Alliance trainings in Susie's name. At every Alliance Leadership Retreat, we plant a tree in Susie's honor.
