Advocacy Advance — a partnership between the Alliance and the League of American Bicyclists — offers Navigating MAP-21 Workshops to train citizens and public officials on unlocking federal dollars for biking & walking.

These one-day trainings bring together:

  • Bicycle and pedestrian advocates
  • Government agency staff
  • Elected officials
  • Community stakeholders, including public health organizations
  • With a focus on the current transportation bill, participants gain the knowledge, skills and resources to access untapped or under-utilized federal active transportation funding. These workshops highlight where dollars are tied up at the state, regional and local level –- and how those dollars can support better infrastructure and programs.

Hosts can also customize workshops to include information about health funding sources, Federal Transit Administration funds, local match funds, and funding for innovative facilities. Navigating MAP-21 Workshops are offered for free thanks to the generous support of SRAM Cycling Fund, Every Body Walk!, and local sponsors.
