 In honor of our co-founder and first Managing Director, Susie Stephens, the Alliance for Biking and Walking offers scholarships to help emerging leaders attend trainings and events. This year’s Susie Stephens Scholarships will include five (5) FULL scholarships to Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place, happening in Vancouver, Canada from September 12-15, 2016.

It started as a lively discussion on the Bike Equity Network related to a Washington Post article that examined the notion of bike lanes as symbols of gentrification. The online conversation that transpired was rich, frank, and underscored the need to bring the conversation to a broader audience in a more interactive format. So this month, the Alliance hosted a highly anticipated Distance Learning Webinar: “Active Transportation & Anti-Displacement.”

Since 2009, the Alliance for Biking & Walking has held the Advocacy Awards to recognize excellence in the bicycle and pedestrian movement. Last night, we teamed up with the League of American Bicycilsts for an Awards Gala at the National Bike Summit and were honored to celebrate the work of an incredible group of advocates.
