It's all too common in the nonprofit sector for our passion and ingenuity to exceed our financial resources. And our State of the Movement report revealed that, indeed, many bike/walk advocacy organizations struggle with capacity — finding the dollars to not only do the work but to fairly compensate their employees. Still, over the past 20 years we've seen an exponential jump in budgets of Alliance member organizations.

Building on its longstanding Benchmarking Project, the Alliance aims to spark deeper discussion about how the People Powered Movement can ensure safe, healthy, inviting streets for all.

 Fall has arrived in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, but there are blue skies overhead and still plenty of people out riding bikes, warding off the morning chill with gloves and hats. The enormous benefits that accrue to people who use bicycles and walk all year-round are the reason many of us here in the Twin Cities believe wintertime active transportation should be taken seriously.
