In honor of our co-founder and first Managing Director, Susie Stephens, the Alliance for Biking and Walking offers scholarships to help emerging leaders attend trainings and events. This year’s Susie Stephens Scholarships will include five (5) FULL scholarships to Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place, happening in Vancouver, Canada from September 12-15, 2016.

Applicant Eligibility

We are seeking scholarship applications from people representing advocates from the walking and biking movement. Preference will be given to staff or board members at current Alliance for Biking & Walking member organizations, though Alliance membership is not required.

Applications are strongly encouraged from women, people of color, and people from underrepresented populations working within the walking and biking movement, as well as organizations with a commitment to social justice and equity. Our State of the Movement Report found that of the 1,000+ people working for Alliance member organizations, only 46% are women and 15% are people of color. The non-profit sector as a whole represents 75% women and 18% people of color, respectively.
