Jill Chamberlain, Chair

Jill_ChamberlainJill Chamberlain is a Senior Project Manager in the Center for Prevention at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. She manages active living initiatives that support communities to adopt active living policies and principles. Jill serves as the organizer of the Minnesota Safe Routes to School Network which recently advocated for the creation and funding for a Minnesota SRTS program. Jill’s favorite part of her work is to see the partnerships, individuals, and professionals work to make our communities more walkable and bikeable. In her personal life she incorporates active living through bike commuting and exploring her neighborhood with her dog Stella.

Amy Ford-Wagner, Vice Chair

Amy Ford-WagnerAmy Ford-Wagner grew up in the suburbs but became a city dweller after college. Of all the things that urban living changed in her life, the most noticeable and dramatic was transportation. Inspired by a new multimodal lifestyle centered on walking, biking, and transit, Amy went back to grad school to become an urban planner. She’s worked as a consultant on transit, biking, and walking in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, and New York City. Amy is currently a Community Planner at Oahu Metropolitan Transportation Organization (OahuMPO) in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Rob Sadowsky, Past Chair

Rob_SadowskyRob Sadowsky became the executive director of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, in Portland, Oregon, in June 2010. Previously, Rob served as Executive Director of the Active Transportation Alliance in Chicago, Illinois, for six years from 2004 to 2010. He has more than 23 years of non-profit advocacy and management experience working on issues of affordable housing, community economic development and transportation policy. He serves on the board of the Alliance for Biking & Walking and the Initiative for Bicycle and Pedestrian Innovation.

Leah Shahum, Secretary

Leah_ShahumLeah Shahum is the founder and director of the Vision Zero Network, a project supporting cities working toward the critical goal of Vision Zero = zero traffic fatalities and severe injuries. The Network helps city and community leaders develop and share best practices toward safe mobility for all road users. As a German Marshall Fund Fellow, Leah has researched Vision Zero strategies and experiences in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands.

Prior to that, Leah served as the longtime Executive Director of the 10,000-member San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, which works to promote bicycling for everyday transportation. Under her leadership, the SF Bicycle Coalition became one of the largest and strongest advocacy groups in San Francisco. Leah formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District, as well as the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

Dorian Grilley, Treasurer

Dorian_GrilleyAfter nearly three decades working for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Parks & Trails Council, Dorian Grilley took the reins of the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota in 2008. But he was no stranger to advocacy, having been a dedicated volunteer for the organization and a long-time bike commuter and racer. With his election to the Alliance board, Grilley says he's eager to share his non-profit experience and work with Alliance members "to make it safe, easy, fun and cool for more people to bicycle more often."

Jennifer Allen

jennifer-allenJennifer Allen is the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Trailnet where she oversees the Neighborhood Greenways St. Louis project and builds strategic partnerships and advocacy campaigns. Jennifer is an urban planner with a Master of Arts in Urban Planning from UCLA. For the past 10 years she has worked in the non-profit world to advance walking and biking. Jennifer is passionate about seeing her hometown of St. Louis become a world-class city again and spends her free time as a Planning Commissioner, co-leading a campaign to break St. Louis' school-to-prison pipeline, and refurbishing furniture.

Scott Bricker

Scott_BrickerScott is the Executive Director of Bike Pittsburgh. An everyday bike commuter, who has cycled across the country, he is a vocal advocate for cyclists' rights. He is an alumnus of Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned a B.S. in Public Policy and Management in 1999. After graduation, Scott lived in San Francisco for two years, where he worked for a dot-com and a software company before returning in 2001 to co-found Bike Pittsburgh. Scott also sits on the board of Pennsylvania Walks & Bikes.

Noah Budnick

Noah_BudnickNoah Budnick is a consultant and strategist who helps build safe, strong communities. Noah served as the executive director of the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and the deputy director and senior policy advisor at Transportation Alternatives in New York City. Noah began his professional career in sustainable transportation at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy, but his roots in advocacy go back to high school, where he and a friend convinced their physical education teachers to let them start a mountain biking club in lieu of going to gym class. He has B.A.s in anthropology and international affairs from the Colorado College and was a Revson Fellow at Columbia University.

Tamika Butler

tamika butlerTamika is the Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition. Prior to leading LACBC, Tamika was the Director of Social Change Strategies at Liberty Hill Foundation, and worked at Young Invincibles as the California Director. She transitioned to policy work after litigating for three years as an employment lawyer at Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center. Tamika received her J.D. in 2009 from Stanford Law School, and in 2006 received her B.A. in Psychology and B.S. in Sociology in her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. Tamika currently serves as the co-chair of the National Center for Lesbian Rights Board of Directors, serves as the Institute Co-Director of the New Leaders Council - Los Angeles, and is an advisory board member for the Legal Aid Society-Employment Law Center’s Fair Play for Girls in Sports program.

Nicole Ferrara

Nicole Ferrara headshotNicole is the Executive Director of Walk San Francisco, a nimble and mighty advocacy organization working to make San Francisco safe for people on foot, so the SF community is healthier and more livable. Nicole has led the organization's Vision Zero work, including coalition building, media advocacy and policy development, in addition to other programs, administration and operations. In her spare time, Nicole loves to run, which is really just fast walking. Nicole holds a Masters in Public Health and a Masters in City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and has previously served as a Commissioner on the Caltrans District 4 Pedestrian Advisory Committee and the City of Berkeley Transportation Commission.

Dan Grunig

Dan_GrunigDan heads Colorado’s statewide bicycle advocacy organization promoting bicycling for transportation, health, and recreation. Bicycle Colorado and its 7,000 members led the successful legislative efforts to create the Colorado Safe Routes to School program, pass the Bicycle Safety Act and begin the Colorado Share the Road Education Fund. Dan is also a member of the Denver Regional Council of Governments’ Transportation Advisory Committee and the Denver Metro Living Streets Initiative. He holds a master’s degree in non-profit business from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a nationally certified cycling instructor.

Lara Kalwinski

Lara KalwinskiLara is the Director of National Standards and a Policy Associate at the Council on Foundations. She has a decade of nonprofit and foundation management expertise, in other words, she is a compliance nerd.  Lara is known for reversing nonprofit operating budget deficits, auditing international grantmaking procedures, creating gift acceptance procedures to enhance regulatory compliance, and implementing community led grant program design. After graduating with a joint JD/MPA from Indiana University, Lara worked for international, religious, and community foundations from Indiana to India. Lara's favorite activity is walking and exploring - often until blisters develop.

Jeff Rosenblum

Jeff_RosenblumJeff is co-founder and President of the Board of LivableStreets Alliance, a Boston-based transportation and urban planning non-profit. He is currently employed by the City of Cambridge as a transportation planner. Jeff has over 15 years experience in consulting, research, training & education, public policy, and community advocacy at the intersection of environment, business, and community engagement. Internationally, he has worked on sustainable development projects in Africa, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Jeff has a masters degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering and Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, and holds a Professional Engineering License from the State of Maine.

Rebecca Serna

Rebecca_SernaRebecca Serna has served as the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition's Executive Director since late 2007. She holds a Master’s degree from Georgia State's Andrew Young School of Policy Studies in Urban Policy, specializing in Planning and Nonprofit Management. She got involved in bicycle advocacy through an internship with the Georgia DOT’s Bicycle and Pedestrian program. She was a Fulbright scholar in Bogotá, Colombia, a co-founder of Citizens for Progressive Transit, and currently serves as President of Georgia Bikes and on the board of Sopo Bicycle Cooperative. Awards include the Alliance’s Advocate of the Year in 2013.

Dani Simons

Dani_SimonsDani has worked on urban environmental issues at the city, national and international levels. She uses strategic communications tools ranging from social media, to traditional advertising, to grassroots outreach and special events to bring community and media attention to the relationships between social equity, transportation and public space. She previously served as the Director of Strategic Communications for the New York City Department of Transportation where she started the Summer Streets program. She was also a co-author of the agency’s strategic business plan Sustainable Streets. Dani is currently the Director of Marketing for NYC Bike Share, the operators of Citi Bike. She is a daily bike commuter.

Bri Whitcraft

Bri WhitcraftBri, Director of Marketing at Dero, proudly announces that her job description involves “geeking out on bike parking.” Before Dero, she worked at Transit for Livable Communities (TLC), where she helped launch TLC’s Transportation Options program and organized events to celebrate new bike and pedestrian routes, funded by the federal Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program. On occasion, Bri leads bike camping trips or facilitates an Open Shop, organized by Grease Rag & Wrench, a volunteer-run women/trans/femme cycling organization in Minneapolis. She is also on the Steering Committee of the Minnesota Chapter of APBP (Association of Pedestrian and Bicycling Professionals).
