ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Formed in 2014, NABSA is a 501(c)(3), membership-based industry association made up of bikeshare system owners, managers, operators and vendors, overseen by an elected Board of Directors. The purpose of NABSA is to provide an organized forum for collaboration, sharing of experiences and best practices, enhanced communications, and guidance to the rapidly growing bikeshare industry.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Board of Directors and supervised by the Board President, the Executive Director of NABSA will be responsible for the general management of the organization, assisting the board in implementing and updating the strategic plan, program coordination and implementation, communication, and fundraising.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Communications, Public Policy, Business or related field or commensurate level of professional experience in a related field
- Combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Strong knowledge of the bikeshare industry
· 5+ years professional work experience with demonstrated project management experience
· Excellent project, planning and time management skills
· Ability to self-start and work productively with minimal supervision
· Familiarity with structure, rules, regulations and ethics of managing a non-profit, tax-exempt organization
· Demonstrated experience in fundraising from a variety of sources including foundations, grants, and corporations
· Ability to develop and manage legal contracts and agreements while also seeking proper support where necessary from consultants, pro-bono aid etc.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and promptly with our many member organizations and partners
· Strong computer literacy skills and comfort with technology: Microsoft Office, Cloud based applications including Google Apps, Mail Chimp or similar. Wordpress and CRM experience a plus.
· Passion for cycling and active transportation
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration
· Provide support for board meetings including agenda development, creation of action items and follow-up to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
· Serve as primary point of contact and information clearinghouse for Board of Directors and member organizations.
· Manage work of board members, working committees, consultants and volunteers
· Oversee timely delivery of all contracted consultant work.
Fundraising
· Maintain database of current and potential funders and research new funding opportunities.
· Create and strengthen relationships with potential funders, including industry, foundation and government contacts.
· Compose and submit proposals for grants and administer associated reporting, financial records and other documentation.
· Work with board to identify resource requirements based on established annual budget and 5-year forecast.
Communication/Public Relations
· Serve as primary spokesperson on behalf of NABSA.
· Maintain positive relationships with bicycle, environmental, health and other related advocacy organizations.
· Develop and implement NABSA’s communication plan, including both external and internal communication through social media, NABSA website, email and other media using relevant, up-to-date content.
· Manage PR consultant and board to ensure the following:
o Proactive and strategic communication with internal (members) and external partners;
o NABSA and its mission, programs, services and member base are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to partners, funders, and the general public.
Project Management
· Plan and oversee annual board retreat, including creation and/or update of strategic plan and organizational goals.
· Coordinate logistics for annual meeting, conference and vendor expo.
· Work with partner organizations and consultants to support federal and other legislative initiatives.
· Work with working committee chairs to continuously update programs and knowledge share database.
Financial and Legal Management
· Work with treasurer to create and recommend annual budget for board approval.
· Manage resources within budget guidelines.
· Ensure compliance with all 501(c)(3) accounting practices.
· Develop and manage contracts with pro-bono and compensated vendors and professional service providers.
TERMS
Full-time (approx. 40 hours/week) position with vacation. Salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Some evening and weekend work will be required. Successful candidate will work remotely.
