Mark Wyatt founded the Iowa Bicycle Coalition in 2004 after attending our Chicago Winning Campaigns Training. The organization built upon the victory of beating back a proposed bike ban in Iowa. Following the Alliance's models, he and his board took the organization to a sustainable and effective level in just two years. In early 2006, he was hired as IBC’s first Executive Director. The Iowa Bicycle Coalition has a thriving Safe Routes to School program, a model two-day bicycle advocacy conference, and successful membership program. It has successfully fended off further attempts to ban bicycles and pushed the positive benefits to Iowa’s health and economy.
