Brighid O’Keane Named Alliance Deputy Director

I’m pleased to announce that Brighid O’Keane is taking on an exciting new role at the Alliance as Deputy Director.

Brighid has been indispensable part of the Alliance’s advocacy and training work for the past three years. As the advocacy lead within the Advocacy Advance program – a partnership with the League of American Bicyclists – Brighid has coordinated trainings, resources, and grants to advocacy organizations all across the United States. Thanks to her work with her Advocacy Advance team members, public agencies and advocacy organizations have unlocked over $100 million for biking and walking programs and projects.

Within the Alliance’s own programming, she has led Winning Campaigns Trainings to help advocates plan and win advocacy pushes for better biking and walking. She also started and coordinates the Advocate Mentorship Program, implemented the inaugural Southern State Caucus retreat, coaches member organizations in areas of advocacy and organizational development, and is working with a Committee to plan the upcoming Leadership Retreat this September 5-8 near Pittsburgh, PA.

Now, Brighid will take on new leadership roles in our Alliance, including organizational planning, program and staff management. She will maintain her role as Advocacy Director, with the Advocacy Advance partnership.

“I am committed to ensuring that we at the Alliance for Biking & Walking are doing all we can to serve the advocates who work for safe, comfortable, accessible streets across North America,” says Brighid.

I am excited to collaborate with Brighid in this new role.
