Apply to Host the 2015 Open Streets Summit in your Town

The Alliance for Biking & Walking is requesting proposals to host the 2015 Open Streets Summit. The Open Streets Summit is the only North American conference devoted exclusively to growing Open Streets. The 2015 event will be the third Summit – the most recent Open Streets Summit was held in Los Angeles in April 2014 and drew nearly 100 Open Streets organizers from 6 countries.

The Open Streets Summit features sessions and breakouts led by local, national and international leaders in the Open Streets movement discussing different elements of planning and implementing these initiatives. The Summit is a 3-day event: sessions take place the first two days, and the third day is devoted to experiencing and participating in a local Open Streets initiative. There is no seasonal or monthly restriction on when the Summit can be held, but it must be held on the weekend of a local Open Streets initiative.

Local host benefit from increased local, national and international exposure for their Open Streets initiative and active transportation programs. Hosts have also used the Summit as a way to build relationships with local sponsors, reward local political champions, and rally supporters interested in advancing Open Streets.

The Letter of Interest for hosting the 2015 Open Streets Summit should be 2-4 pages and not exceed 8 pages. Applicants have significant latitude to respond; creativity and boldness are encouraged.
