FULL SPEED AHEAD TO PITTSBURGH
In just a week, 125 advocates will flock to a conference center outside Pittsburgh, PA to share knowledge, resources, and tips about advocating to make communities better for walking and biking. This gathering is the 2014 Leadership Retreat, the Alliance's biennial retreat for state and local bicycle and pedestrian advocacy leaders. At Alliance HQ, we've been working hard to prepare all the sessions, materials, and logistics for our largest Retreat yet on September 5 - 8. It's going to be awesome!
The full agenda for the Leadership Retreat features an array of impressive sessions by and for grassroots advocates.
Immediately following the Leadership Retreat, we'll descend upon downtown Pittsburgh for Pro Walk / Pro Bike / Pro Place 2014, September 9 - 11. This conference, organized by the Project for Public Spaces, presents a dizzying array of sessions and workshops for biking and walking fans from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
The Alliance's guide to the can't-miss sessions at Pro Walk / Pro Bike / Pro Place will help you refrain from feeling too overwhelmed by all your choices. (Do try to stick around for Future Bike on the final day.)
Bike Pittsbugh has been closely involved with planning for PWPBPP. They're even helping to recruit volunteers.
Just in time for the conference, Pittsburgh is installing protected bike lanes along Penn Ave next week. Business leaders are excited.
