DECEMBER IS FOR DOLLARS
The end of the year is a big fundraising time for nonprofit organizations. Biking and walking advocacy coalitions from throughout the Alliance network are pushing to raise dollars by the end of December. (Of course, you can support the all-powerful biking and walking lobby throughout North America with your gift to the Alliance for Biking & Walking.)
Many organizations in the Alliance network mobilized for #GivingTuesday this week. Walk San Francisco encouraged folks to give back to #VisionZero. BikeNet partnered with Yellowstone Fitness to raise #GivingTuesday matching funds.
Bicycle Colorado asks for support on Colorado Gives Day.
BikeTexas needs financial support to fight the state's Transportation Commission, which has diverted funds from walking and biking. They also showcase all the bikey gifts you can get for your loved ones to support Texas bike advocacy.
Living Streets Alliance needs help advancing bikeshare, walking funds, and a transportation sales tax in 2015.

INFRASTRUCTURE INLET
California Walks pushes for safer walking along El Camino Real, which goes through several Bay Area cities. Currently, 15% of all pedestrian and bicycle collisions within the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View are located along El Camino Real (!). Plans are in the works for a bus rapid transit system along the street.
Minneapolis advocates delivered 3,000 postcards in support of a network of protected bikeways.
Advocates are heating up a campaign for a protected bike lane on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.
The Washington Area Bicyclist Association pushes narrower lands and protected bike lanes along Suitland Road in DC and Maryland.

Advocates oppose a ban on sidewalk bicycling in San Jose, CA.
Cleveland advocates are working to pass Brandon's Law, which would increase the penalty for fleeing the scene where death or serious injury occurs to a felony of the second degree.
The California Bicycle Coalition's ambitious goals for 2015 include more dollars for complete bike networks, sensible regulations for electric bicycles, and clarifying the vehicle code for bicycles. The list reads a bit like a horoscope for state-level bicycle advocacy priorities: these are the types of campaigns we'll likely see play out across many jurisdictions over the coming years.
San Diego advocates push back on a regional plan budget that plans for minimal bike improvements and funding.
