Get your biking, walking, dancing, and hula hooping shoes on! We're excited to announce the upcoming 2015 National Open Streets Summit happening September 25-27, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia!
The 2015 National Open Streets Summit is co-hosted by the Open Streets Project, Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, and Atlanta Streets Alive. The Open Streets Project is also collaborating with 8-80 Cities. The Summit will feature sessions and networking opportunities for both novice and experienced open streets organizers, led by experts from the Open Streets Project, 8-80 Cities, Atlanta Streets Alive, and other local organizers. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in Atlanta Streets Alive on September 27th.
Why Atlanta? The question should really be why not Atlanta. The vision of Atlanta Streets Alive is to encourage Atlanta to develop living streets — streets that appeal to pedestrians, bikers, businesses and neighbors. Streets are publicly owned assets but on most days are used mainly by cars. On this day, people can regain ownership of the streets they pay taxes to build and maintain — and transform them into fun, healthy, living streets for all to enjoy.

Last September, Atlanta Streets Alive attracted an estimated 106,000 attendees — almost 25% of the entire city of Atlanta! The five mile route along Highland and North Avenues featured over fifty activities. And in December, Atlanta Streets Alive won "Best Of" from Atlanta Magazine for showcasing different neighborhoods in Atlanta.
We look forward to announcing additional Summit details soon. For now, please save the date and we hope to see you on September 25-27, 2015!
