You know that change doesn’t happen on its own. People create change — and the Alliance is the only organization that is specifically and exclusively focused on connecting, supporting and inspiring the leaders who make change happen. With your help, we turn personal passion into sophisticated advocacy. With your support, we provide tools that galvanize effective action to transform communities. With you among our growing network, we are the heart and hub of the bike/walk movement.
Advocacy Avenue

According to Bike East Bay: "BikeWalkAlameda brought over 70 supporters in bright yellow vests to the Alameda Transportation Commission on November 18 to speak in favor of safer walking and bicycling on busy Central Avenue. Equity Intersection
In the wake of the tragic shooting of Jamar Clark and ensuring protests, the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition proactively stood in solidarity with leaders of color: "We cannot be successful if we leave behind, ignore, or do not serve communities of color. We cannot be successful if we ignore concerns that both fear of crime and fears of police racial profiling and brutality are barriers to more biking."
Bicycle Colorado surveyed the more than 1,000 members of its (barely year-old) Women Bike Colorado Facebook group and found that respondents 1) "want to diversify in both demographics and types of bicycling," and 2) more than 50% said they would be interested in serving as "sheroes" in the wider community to engage more women in riding.
The Active Transportation Alliance attended and reflected on a Chicago discussion about making transportation accessible to folks of all abilities, noting that "bus rapid transit, diagonal sidewalks, streetscaping and protected bike lanes are often obstacles for people with disabilities trying to safely access sidewalks."
The Community Cycling Center in Portland, Ore., kicked off its 20th annual Holiday Bike Drive, which has distributed more than 10,000 bikes to low-income kids and families since 2005.
